Design Night is a recurring, open-to-the-public event hosted by Autodesk’s Gallery in San Francisco to help bring public awareness to the Autodesk brand.
Design Night
Every event focuses on a different topic within design and explores its intersection with technology. Some themes have included color, animation, illusion, toys, cities, robots, and more traditional fields of design like interior design, industrial design, architecture, fashion design and more. The Adventure School has completed over 40 Design Nights which consistently has a sold out attendance of 450+ guests each month.
Each event has a speaking portion and activities centered around the theme. Design Night has featured speakers from a variety of technical fields, including John Markoff, New York Times journalist and author of Machines of Loving Grace; Rikard Steiber, Senior Vice President Virtual Reality, HTC; Landis Fields, Designer/Film maker at Industrial, Light & Magic; Dr. Sylvia Earle, marine biologist, author, National Geographic Explorer, TED Prize winner; Kevin Martens, Lead Designer, Blizzard Entertainment; Patrick Osborne, Director of Feast, Walt Disney Animation Studios; Krista Donaldson, CEO of D-Rev; Michela O’Connor Abrams, Dwell Media CEO and president; Hartmut Esslinger, founder of frog design; renowned sculptor Bruce Beasley. Some successful and well-recieved activities and programming The Adventure School has organized in the past include, zucchini racers, paper marbling, 3D printing by hand, a tech-based fashion show, brushbots, snowglobes, flipbooks, tent building competitions, leather pouches, collaborative sculptures and salt water taffy pulling.
